It’s time again for the Agricultural Show held every year at the Three Counties Showground in Malvern. The show is a huge event for the rural counties of Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and Herefordshire.
It is where farmers and breeders bring their prize livestock to be shown and judged. There are many skills contests such as sheep shearing and smithing.
This year’s show will feature a variety of special events such as a surprise visit by comedians Rory McGrath and Paddy McGuinness, who will be dropping in during the second leg of their nationwide tour for ‘Rory & Paddy’s Great British Adventure’.
The dynamic duo are travelling the length of the UK, taking part in strange, but quintessentially, British sporting events such as cheese rolling, pie eating, bog snorkelling and wife carrying!
Determined to explore the hidden athleticism within every town and village, the duo are coming to the Malvern Three Counties Show to learn the art of sheep shearing with Three Counties Sheep Shearing Committee member, Stephen Lloyd.
Other events include the record-breaking jumps by Matt Coulter (The Kangaroo Kid), a former Australian, Italian and UK Quad Racing Champion, who will attempt to jump over ten classic Morgan cars, astride his famous quad bike. Matt will also be tackling a row of vintage tractors over the course of the weekend!
Malvern’s Morgan Motor Company, which is celebrating its centenary this year, will also be at the Show with some of their beautiful vehicles.
In addition to the Kangaroo Kid, family entertainment includes the thrilling Red Devils Parachute Display Team, Young Farmers competition, bees and honey, vintage machinery, country pursuits and even scuba diving!
The Three Counties Show starts this Friday and is expected to attract in the region of 95,000 visitors, and has a whole crop of new features for 2009, including a Farmers’ Market, Felice’s Kitchen, the Malvern Dairy Goat Show, a Medieval Village, and the Three Counties Cider, Beer and Music Festival.
