On Friday 27th February, staff from the Rembrandt Hotel gathered in the Kings Suite to enjoy their annual Staff Party, which this year had a suave, yet not stuffy dichromatic theme.
Colourful uniforms, office shirts and blouses were traded in for chic, sophisticated (and in some cases sexy!) suits and frocks. The Kings Suite and surrounding areas were decorated with a splendid array of black and white balloons, chair covers, table cloths and backdrops, featuring sultry silhouettes of salsa dancers to create a refined yet funky party mood.
Both staff members and guests alike enjoyed a decent welcome drink and the chance to pose for professional photographs and try their luck at the tombola before taking their seats for the welcome speeches by Deborah Saleh (Group Human Resources Manager) and Mrs Barlow (Group Operations Manager). An evening of fun and merriment then ensued as staff and guests were treated to a sumptuous feast which featured a variety of tasty dishes, including cajun-spiced salmon, Thai chicken curry and an assortment of mouth-watering desserts. My compliments to Karim Ferrag (Senior Sous Chef) and his team for an exceptional job!
Two exciting and nail-biting raffle draws followed dinner; the first offering a diverse range of prizes ranging from soft toys to must-have electronic goods, the second being a “staff-only” raffle where staff members who were present at the party would have the opportunity to be rewarded for their hard work in 2008 by winning one of several luxurious trips, ranging from weekend breaks in Paris to a week in gorgeous Tuscany.
This year, the Rembrandt was proud to bestow a large number of “Long Service Awards” upon a number of staff, who celebrated service milestones with Sarova Hotels in 2008. Several were commended for 5 and 10 years of continuous service, and Duncan Watson (Deputy GM) received a recognition award for 15 years of devotion to the company. Even more staggering than that was the presentation of awards to 4 members of staff who each achieved an astonishing 20 years of service in 2008! Congratulations to you all, especially Freddy Mendoza (Deputy Head Concierge) who, in addition to achieving 20 years of service, was also announced as “Employee Of The Year 2008”.
After the official presentations drew to a close, everyone proceeded to dance the remainder of the night away and celebrate the successes of the previous year. Photos taken by Scott, the professional photographer at the party, earlier in the evening were available to buy (in both colour and black & white) outside the Kings Suite – a lovely souvenir from a fantastic and enjoyable night.
Well done to you all – here’s to a successful 2009!
