The city that never sleeps...

I spent last week training the new Night Manager at the Rembrandt, which was quite an experience as my body clock took some time to adjust to working at night. During this time, I was able to reflect on how busy and vibrant London is during the night. Many of us working or living in London still don’t fully enjoy this wonderful city and think that it’s only over the weekend that London’s night life picks up.

A few years ago the legislation in regards to the opening hours of bars and restaurants in London changed and this resulted in a number of bars and restaurants opening till later, with some staying open till the early hours of the morning. Working in Knightsbridge, I can assure you that there is a very good choice of restaurants, bars and clubs in this area where you can unwind after a busy day in the office or experience an essence of the Night Life that exists in London.

It is also nice to see that transport in London had improved tremendously over the last few years with night buses running more frequently and the tubes running till later and opening earlier in the morning. So, don’t be discouraged by thinking that travel will be limited, and remember to always check and plan your journey beforehand. The London Transport website, http://www.tfl.gov.uk/ is the best option to check times and routes of all public transports in London. You can also use taxis, however please remember to use a licensed taxi to ensure you arrive home safe and secure.

In my opinion, with the election of our new Mayor, London is becoming safer at night especially since drinking on public transport has being banned, but please also ensure you stay on the main streets where you will find that there are lots of people around.
