Diwali-on-the-Square

Trafalgar Square will be host to celebrations marking Diwali, the Festival of Light, on Sunday 28 October.

Organised by the Mayor of London and the Diwali in London Committee in association with Tilda, the celebrations will see Trafalgar Square transformed by magical light displays, floating lanterns, and music and dance performances.

Diwali, the festival of lights, is celebrated by people of all nationalities, races and religions. It celebrates the victory of good over evil and of light over darkness. The word Diwali or Deepavali means 'a row of lamps'. Diwali marks new beginnings and a renewal of commitment to family values. It represents joy, love, reflection, resolution, forgiveness, light and knowledge.
